40 Mile Beach Bush Camp self drive day trip

40 Mile Beach Bush Camp, south of Karratha on Western Australia’s (WA) West Pilbara Coast, is an excellent spot for a day trip and the ideal setting for anyone seeking a natural coastal camping area. The protection of the bay offers excellent fishing and sheltered swimming beaches. Overnight camping is permitted for a small fee.

60 kilometres (approximately one hour)

Directions from Karratha Visitor Centre

1. Follow Karratha Dampier Road, heading towards the North West Coastal Highway.
2. Turn right onto the North West Coastal Highway, follow for 50 kilometres.
3. Turn right onto Forty Mile Beach Road, continue for five kilometres until you reach the beachfront.
