Cossack self drive day trip

The Cossack self drive day trip follows the footsteps of the early settlers who came to Western Australia’s (WA) West Pilbara Coast in search of their fortune. The town boasts eight restored buildings and the cemetery, all of which have been listed by the National Trust. The European and Japanese cemeteries are located on the sand dunes on the edge of the town.

Offering barbeque and picnic facilities, toilets, a small wharf, sheltered fishing and swimming beaches, and several lookouts, Cossack on WA’s West Pilbara Coast has everything you need to enjoy a family day out. There is great fishing from the wharf or among the mangroves or on the beaches. Mud crabs and blue swimmer crabs are also found here. Superb diving and snorkelling can be experienced close by on the surrounding islands.

Located metres away from the town, Settlers Beach is the ideal spot to take a stroll. Aboriginal rock art can be seen on nearby cliffs and the lookout pergola on the cliff top overlooking Settlers Beach offers sweeping views of Roebourne, Wickham, Point Samson, Cape Lambert and De Puch Island.
