Nature based camping

Nature based camping on the West Pilbara Coast of Western Australia (WA) is an experience like no other. You can enjoy pristine white sands, clear blue water, excellent fishing and a relaxed ‘no rush’ atmosphere, all just a short drive from Karratha. For three months of the year, many people escape the cold by heading north and setting up camp on the dunes at Cleaverville Beach or 40 Mile Beach Bush Camp.

Both destinations on WA’s West Pilbara Coast are popular beach fishing, swimming and camping spots for locals and visitors alike, and offer excellent self drive day trips from Karratha. Overnight camping fees are applicable from May to September.

Apart from the boat ramp at Cleaverville, there are no other facilities or amenities available, so bring plenty of drinking water and remove all rubbish when you leave. A caretaker will collect fees for those wishing to stay overnight – a three month limit applies to both campsites.

Visit the Shire of Roebourne website or contact Karratha Visitor Centre for more information about camping on the West Pilbara Coast of WA.
